How this board plays
- Move: tap one of your pieces — its legal moves light up green. Tap a lit square to move; a ring means a capture.
- Castling: fully legal — never out of, through, or into check, and only while king and rook have never moved.
- En passant: capture a pawn that just double-stepped past you, exactly as the classical rules allow.
- Promotion: reach the last rank and pick your piece from the chooser — queen, rook, bishop or knight.
- Endings: checkmate and stalemate are called, and so are the draws — fifty-move rule, threefold repetition, and insufficient material.
- The bot: a house engine searching three moves deep with a little randomness, so no two games run the same.
